Faith and Flourishing: Embracing Inclusion for People with Disabilities, Their Families, and Congregations

The Vanderbilt Kennedy Center and TASH are pleased to announce an upcoming one-day conference called Faith and Flourishing: Embracing Inclusion for People with Disabilities, Their Families, and Congregations. This unique event will bring together faith community members and leaders, people with disabilities and their families, disability service providers and advocates, and many others for a day of inspiring speakers, practical learning, and networking.

 

The morning includes a series of keynotes from national leaders like Erik Carter, Amy Fenton Lee, Bill Gaventa, Jackie Mills, and Gail Fanjoy. These experts will share on topics like:

  • Incomplete Without You: Welcoming People with Disabilities and Their Families Well
  • A Parent’s Perspective: The Role of a Faith Community in Enriching Life
  • Designing Supports for People to Flourish
  • Stirring the Soul with Stories of Inclusion
  • Hidden in Plain Sight: Strategies for Welcoming People with Disabilities and their Families in Faith Communities

In addition, there will be afternoon workshops such as:

  • The Nuts and Bolts of Disability Ministry
  • Breaking Down the Barriers for Inclusion in Faith Communities
  • Putting Faith to Work: Empowering Congregations to Support People with Disabilities to Find Good Jobs
  • Strategies to Promote the Inclusion of Children with Autism and Developmental Disabilities
  • Spirituality in Inclusive Postsecondary Education Programs
  • And so much more!
